To obtain a useful effect, on the day you need to eat 150 grams of berries – less number has no effect on the cardiovascular system.
A group of scientists from the US and UK decided to find out how blueberries affect on people suffering from metabolic syndrome. He is considered a forerunner of diabetes of the second type, since an increase in weight, decrease insulin sensitivity, disturbances in carbohydrate and fat metabolism. Metabolic syndrome is also associated with risk of hypertension and other diseases.
During the experiment, about 150 patients with the metabolic syndrome over 50 years old consumed either bilberry (150 or 80 grams per day) or placebo, similar in appearance and taste to these berries.
Blueberries have long made the list of “Superfoods” since this berry contains a huge set of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. It is useful for vision, prevent diabetes, improve the condition of the skin.
The result was that those who ate a day 150 grams of blueberries, the risk of developing cardiovascular disease decreased by 12-15% – they have significantly improved blood circulation and vascular condition. This effect was not observed in volunteers who consumed a placebo and half a serving of blueberries.
