Scientists have found that facial hair protects humans from a rare and dangerous cancer.
Researchers from the University of Kansas made an unexpected conclusion. It turns out that men who wear a mustache thicker than a nine millimeter, or 16 times less likely to suffer from squamous cell carcinoma (dangerous malignancy) on the lower lip. But the representatives of the stronger sex, who have hardly any facial hair, the disease manifests itself more often.
According to oncologists, the fact is that skin cancer can arise from solar keratosis. These pathological changes are among the most significant.
Usually keratosis on early stages it looks as rough spots on the skin damaged by the sun. This most often they arise on the head or face.
The most dangerous area is the skin of the lips, as it is very thin. Therefore, scientists concluded that a mustache can protect from potential threats.
