Tina Karol, Masha Yefrosinina, Lesya Nikityuk and 12 Ukrainian stars took part in the creation of a charity calendar “Shchyri”, is a Ukrainian holidays and traditional outfits.
The project “Shchyri” was born in 2014 when for the first time 15 Ukrainian celebrities were the participants of the shooting, dressed in Ukrainian national costumes. After this, the project has become a good tradition in 2016 continuation under the name of “Shchyri. Heritage”, and the main theme of the calendar 2019 – “Schiri. Holy.”
“This project began as a social initiative, – said the organizer of the project, the managing Director of “Domosfera” Natalia Kravets. We wanted to show how beautiful can be the Ukrainian costume and raise funds for charity. Now “Shchyri” is already a tradition. Through clothing, jewelry, symbols, we tell the story of holidays, talking about family values and rituals. In addition, a “Schiri” will contribute to the preservation of Ukrainian national heritage. This year we are implementing a project in partnership with the National center of folk culture “Ivan Honchar Museum”. It is in support of it will be transferred all profits from the sale of the charity calendar.”
The Ukrainian stars have tried on 20 outfits, showing 100-year history of Ukrainian clothing from such regions as the Hutsul, Galicia, Western Podillia, Pokuttia, the middle Dnieper. Moreover, every type and month in the calendar dedicated to traditional Ukrainian feast, as indicated by the respective attributes and items of clothing.
The team of the Ivan Honchar Museum and stylist photography – designer Natalia Kamenskaya created a truly authentic images. Among the elements of the outfit shirt with a unique curly-haired Hutsul seam the skirt, which is called scattered with prints and original coral beads.
To join such an important project in 2019 agreed 15 Ukrainian celebrities. Among them, Masha Efrosinina, Lesya Nikityuk, Tina Karol, Nata zhyzhchenko (ONUKA), Jamal, participants Dakh Daughters Salome Miller and Natalia Halanevych, Ruslan Senichkin and Lyudmila, Barbir, Gregory Reshetnik with his wife Christine, Elena Kravets, Kateryna Kuhar, Dasha Astafieva and singer of the band KAZKA Alexander Zaritskaya.
“I open the calendar, I – January – says TV presenter Les nikitiuk. – Christmas carols – it peak, so to speak! Frost, snow! All the girls dress up and go caroling. As a child I always sang carols. For my brother and all the family it was a big occasion. After the carols we were going around the table, counted the money, and shared candy. It was fabulous!”
Tina appeared in the image of the bride and her unique wedding Hutsul outfit was brought from Ivano-Frankivsk region. Shirt, embroidered cross, was valuable jacquard belted waist. The head of the singer was decorated with a wreath of GIMP, beads and shaped sequins.
Nata Zhizhchenko (ONUKA) tried on the role of senior buddies. Festive attribute cronies have always been the bread and captari Kalinka (shoulder wear).

Singer Jamal also tried on traditional a wedding dress. In her festive embroidery depicts an octagonal star – the symbol of harmony, balance and beauty.
“Remember their roots, know their history and traditions are important for every modern person, – says Jamal. – I chose the wedding dress because for me the most impressive and exciting is the ritual of dressing the bride. I was at the traditional wedding in the Volyn region and I was impressed by local customs that originate from ancient times. Impressed so much that I borrowed for my own wedding. I like to combine modern and traditional”.
Participants of the Ukrainian band Dakh Daughters appeared in the costumes worn by our ancestors in Central Ukraine. Lush shirt with fashionable embroidery and prokurovskaya Kalmykova belt perfectly complements their images. And lark dough that participated in the survey, Ukrainians were usually met spring.
“Project “Shchyri.Holy” is a real story that comes from the heart, – say the members of the band Dakh Daughters Salome Miller and Natalia Halanevych. Such projects are important, because our traditions and history are of great fortitude. It is important to have this support and know the power of your ancestor that you are not alone”.
