Thai authorities have decided to legally equate Smoking to domestic violence.

In Thailand, the local authorities adopted a law according to which Smoking in the presence of family members will now be punished exactly the same as domestic violence. Officials estimated the harm done by Smoking relatives of smokers and went to such drastic measures.
The initiators of the bill were representatives of the Thai Ministry of women’s Affairs and family development. They said that Smoking is injurious comprehensive family and relations, which according to the severity of harm it can be equated to domestic violence. For example, the Ministry considered that Smoking destroys family relationships because the wife and kids may not want to be around a smoker. All this leads to conflict, insults and even physical force.
On the other hand, passive Smoking of family members negatively affects their health. In this regard, if the medical examination is now established that the condition of some of the members of the family had deteriorated as a result of the fact that someone from his family smokes, to the relative sanctions will be applied. The bill comes into force on 20 August this year.
At the moment the exact list of sanctions that will be applied to smokers has not yet been published. However, it is already known that owners of bad habits at least intend to send to rehabilitation centres.
